Yes. I agree with your assesment (sp?) of where to put our hope--politics or Jesus. The church needs to step up, not just rely on politics to do what we're commanded to do. Jesus for President?!

Derrick Weston

I'd vote for him, but I'm not sure how electable he is, being jewish and all

Not many are more cynical about politics than I am, but I have hope for Obama. I saw him give a talk to about 30-40 people back in Chicago, at the early state of his Senate campaign, and before he hit national superstardom. I came away with the impression that he was an intelligent, thoughtful person, and I can't imagine a presidential candidate (who actually has a chance of winning, see Jesus) that I would be more excited about than Obama. Add his first book, Dreams of My Father, to your list as well if you haven't read it.

Derrick Weston

I added Dreams of My Father to my to read list. I'm a little more than halfway through the Audacity of Hope and I have to say I am very impressed. He has a visionary, yet common sense approach to improving the state of our country and as well as the state of political discourse. It's pretty hard not to get sold.
